Grey wool single breasted backless waistcoat which fastens with six grey buttons. It has a V-neck and has two jetted pockets at the waist. It has no back and fastens with an elastic grey strap around the neck and a detachable elasticated grey strap with a buckle that hooks to each side of the waistcoat at the waist.

Formal trousers in a black woollen fabric. Trousers are front fastening via three, black, plastic buttons and another concealed button on the inside of the waistband. In addition, there is a hook and eye on an extended waistband tab and adjustable side tabs with buckles at either side of the waistband for added security. There are concealed, vertical, in seam pockets on either side of the waist; and a horizontal, jetted pocket with a button fastening at the reverse on the right side. There is a black ribbon that runs the length of each of the side seams. The trousers are unlined. Moss Bros.

Double breasted suit jacket made from a black woollen fabric. Jacket has pointed lapels in a silk serge type fabric, with a buttonhole on each lapel. It is front fastening. There are four, black buttons on the front of the jacket although only one of them fastens through a buttonhole. On the inside front of the jacket there is a concealed button which can also be fastened through a concealed buttonhole for added security. There is a welted, breast pocket for a handkerchief on the left side of the chest; and a jetted pocket on either side of the waist. There is a dart on either side of the front opening, running from the chest to the pockets. There is a vent at the back of the jacket. The inside of the jacket is lined and there are jetted pockets on either side of the chest. Moss Bros.

Calf length great coat in a heavy, woollen, khaki coloured fabric. Coat has a turn down collar and large lapels. Coat is double breasted and front fastening. Eight domed, gold buttons sit at the front of the coat, four on either side of the opening. These buttons display the regimental crest of the Yorkshire and Lancashire Regiment [a tiger surmounted by a Tudor rose]. Under these on the right side, there are two small, brown, plastic buttons which fasten through two corresponding, concealed tabs which are inside the left side of the jacket. There is a double hook and eye fastening at the collar. At either side of the waist there is a jetted pocket with a flap. Straps can be found at the shoulders, each fastened with a matching gold button. Each sleeve has a large, turn back cuff which is about 14cm in depth. At the reverse of the coat there is pleat which runs down the centre seam of the coat from the shoulder blades to the waist. There is a large dart on either side of the centre seam, from armpit level to just below the waist. Under this there is a vent, 64cm in length, that runs from thigh level to the hem and can be buttoned closed by a small, brown plastic button. A half belt is found at waist level on the back of the coat and is secured by three gold buttons that match the others on the coat. The coat is lined in a khaki serge fabric to just over 3/4 of the way down. On the left side at chest level, there is a vertical, jetted pocket which sits approximately 13cm in from the opening. Buttoned to the lining next to this is a triangular piece of fabric in an identical wool to the outer which can be buttoned to the collar of the jacket to act as a 'throat guard.' British Army

Blue grey wool Royal Air Force No. 5 Mess Dress uniform tailored trousers to go with jacket 2019.208.4. They fasten centre front with a four black plastic button fly and have six white plastic buttons sewn into the inside waist to attach braces. The trousers have a high waist and the waist band rises at the back with a V-shaped notch in the centre - there are no belt loops. The trouser legs are narrowly cut. The trouser front features a single pleat on each side of the centre front fly and vertical inset pockets to each side seam. The inside waistband and back facing are made of cream twill rayon and the pocket bags are light grey cotton. Royal Air Force

Blue grey wool short Royal Air Force No. 5 Mess Dress uniform tailored jacket to go with trousers 2019.208.9. The jacket is waist length with a turn down collar and wide pointed lapels in grey grosgrain silk. On the left lapel is the RAF Flight Engineers half brevet badge - embroidered in gold thread on a blue grey background the design is of two bronze laurel branches encircling the capital letter 'E' with a single wing in gold wire, extending to the right as viewed. The cuffs are embellished with three rows of gold braid - the insignia of a Wing Commander.

The front of the jacket has six gold coloured brass buttons on the front embossed with the RAF emblem, three on each side. The buttons are narrowly spaced at the waist and widen to the chest. There are four buttonholes , two on each side. At the back the bottom of the jacket is cut in two curves over the hips meeting at a point in the centre waist. The back is cut in three curved panels. It is lined in cream rayon with lines of machine quilting under the arms and across the front sides. There is a hanging loop in the back of the neck and tailors label on the inside of a pocket in the lining on the right side.
