Letter addressed from Kensington Palace. He writes' My dear Miss Ethel, I thought him looking so handsome in death, and can never forgive myself for not having tried to see him this winter. I had imagined him to be in the country. Many thanks for your kind note. I grieve deeply for your mother and you. The excitement of even this saddest event is felt at first, and it is only later that the full force of numbness is felt. The only remedy here is work. I think you may excuse the enclosed.
