Established c1971, they answered to the Academic Council.

Terms of Reference: to oversee implementation and monitoring within the faculty of all Poly policies; to maintain academic standards; to formulate and review academic development plans for the faculty; to receive reports and recommendations from Faculty Academic Standards Committees; to make recommendations and approve allocation of faculty resources; to encourage, develop and coordinate research and staff development; to oversee the development of learning support services; to promote links with other education establishments.

Members: Dean of Faculty (Chair), heads of schools, chair of Faculty Academic Standards Committee, Head of Library Services, Head of Computer Services, Pro-Rector responsible for faculty, member of Academic Council elected by faculty, 1 member of academic staff from each school, 1 member of technical staff, 1 member of administrative/clerical staff, up to 5 students, up to 5 course leaders, 1 member from each of 2 other related faculties, 1 representative from Student Services.
