Ethel M Wood was one of the early workers in the movement towards scientific management and in the 1920s served in the International Institute of Scientific Management in Geneva. She has been a governor of the Polytechnic since 1945 and associated with the School since its inception in 1949.
The Ethel M Wood Thesis was established to stimulate the systematic study of basic truths which are of fundamental importance in ensuring equitable and effective administration. It consists of a bound thesis and seven guineas and was awarded to the best thesis written during the final stage of the course in PG Diploma in Management Studies.
