              Dark olive green wool cap, folded in half. It has a deep brim that is folded up and has an overlap at the front. The brim edge is trimmed with brown cord piping overstitched in black and yellow gold metal thread (tarnished). It has a brown leather inner hat band and a brown twill rayon lining.               Cream cap with purple and pink striped tape edge. The side of the cap extends down to cover the ear, with a bound edge hole to the ear on the flap. The ends of the flap have a length of cotton tape which tie under the chin to secure the cap. The front panel has an embroidered Sidney house pheon azure (broad arrow) in purple thread.               Peaked cap with detachable face mask and neck cover made of olive drab green Chrome-R nylon. The cap has a hard curved peak brim at the front, reinforced with four lines of stitching. It has an adjustment buckle and tab at the back and a line of black webbing around the sides with four poppers on each. It has black padded inner hat band but no lining, the inside seams are bound in black fabric. C.P. Company label in white sewn to the front of the cap with zig-zag stitching.

              The mask is a half circle shape made of olive drab green Chrome-R nylon with a section of black mesh over the front and two poppers to attach to the cap. The lining and bindings are of the same fabric as the front part.

              The neck cover is made of olive drab green Chrome-R nylon in two curve-edged square shapes attached in a short section on one side. It is elasticated across the top and has two sections of black webbing with three poppers on each to attach to the cap.

              Dark gold coloured silk velvet smoking cap with circular flat top. It has been hand embroidered in dark gold braid and threads in a pattern of five-pointed leaves which circle around the silk thread covered button in the centre of the top of the cap and around the cap edges. The button fastens a long fine braid tassel. The cap is lined in machine quilted brown silk in a pattern of horizontal lines.

              Peaked cap made of bright red silk and lined in cream twill cotton with a large flat button covered in red silk at the top of the crown. It matches a jockey silks jacket in brown and red. The crown is made of six triangular shaped pieces with piped edges and around the bottom edge is a channel for a draw cord. The cord is made of red silk. The lining is heavily stained from wear and has a central patch which has been stamped in black ink with the makers label: a coat of arms over an oval with 'S.               Blue cotton cap with ear flaps and a neck flap at the back. The neck flap rolls up and fastens with two metal press studs. The cap has a machine embroidered badge on the front in yellow thread in the design of an eight pointed star shape surrounding a circle with 'SUIDAFRIKAANSE POLISIE SOUTH AFRICAN POLICE' around a coat of arms. It has a stiffened peak which is sewn with four rows of stitching. The ear flaps each have a large eyelet bound with blue stitching. On the underside of the peak is a label with 'South African Police O/R's field cap' handwritten.
