            Semi sheer shirt made from a silk and rayon mix with a point collar. Shirt fastens at the front via eight buttons made from an iridescent, purple plastic. Each cuff fastens via a single button of an identical type. The devoré pattern is made up from diamonds of varying sizes that become stripes. and the pattern is somewhat irregular. The velvet portion of the devoré pattern is a dark purple and the sheer material portion of the fabric underneath is a paler purple. The shirt has a straight hem. There are no darts. There are slight gathers in the fabric at the shoulders. English Eccentrics

            Brown fine cotton long sleeved shirt printed with a design of small spots and a stylised floral motif in beige, green and yellow. It fastens centre front with six buttons. It has a button down pointed collar, one button rounded cuffs and two patch pockets with buttoning flaps at the chest. All the buttons are mother of pearl shell. Size 1. Label 'Jean Cacharel / Paris' - this is different from the women's wear labels of the same period, perhaps the shirt was made under licence.

            Forest green wool facecloth vest or waistcoat with green cotton sateen back and gold metal thread work looped lacing and Austrian knot work. It has a deep curved neckline which is edged in gold coloured pointed glass beads. It closes centre front with 5 pairs of black japanned metal hooks and eyes which alternate. Lined in cream cotton and with a green cotton sateen back strap with black japanned two prong metal buckle with 'BRITISH' engraved into it. There is a name stamped in black ink on the lining 'J. S. Philips' and handwritten in green pencil 'R S M GRAHAM'.
