Established in 1972, it reported to the Academic Council.

Terms of Reference: to act on behalf of the Academic Council in respect of the internal validation of courses; to act on behalf of the Academic Council on the monitoring and academic control of courses with the objective of maintaining appropriate academic standards; to act on behalf of the Academic Council/to recommend to the Academic Council external examiners, members of examining boards and appointment of course leaders; to recommend to the Academic Council those courses which it is proposed should be offered by PCL in liaison with other institutions.

Members: 18 members of which 6 were ex-officio - 5 members of the rectorate, one of whom shall be chairman, and 1 student representative - and 12 nominated (each year). No constraint on membership which could be drawn from any sector of PCL.
