A Study of the English Homes from the Medieval (Norman and Plantagenet) and Early Tudor (from the ascension of Henry VII to that of Queen Elizabeth) periods, 1066-1558. It comprises an Introduction, followed by the Descriptive and Critical text of the Buildings included. The text is accompanied by numerous plates (photographs) that illustrate the development of the Manor Houses from the Early Middle Ages through Lancastrian and Yorkist times to the years when our native architecture first began to feel the influence of Renaissance ideas under the early Tudor sovereigns.
