Founded in Paris in 1854 as a luggage company, Louis Vuitton debuted its ready-to-wear womenswear in 1998 and its menswear line in 2004 under the artistic direction of Marc Jacobs (b. 1963). Kim Jones (b. 1973) served as artistic director from 2011 to 2018. After Jones’s departure to Dior in June 2018, Virgil Abloh was named artistic director of menswear in March 2018 and debuted his first collection for Spring Summer 2019 in June 2018. Following Abloh’s death in November 2021, the in-house menswear team designed the subsequent menswear collections. Pharrell Williams was appointed creative director of menswear in February 2023.

Printed lightweight cotton face mask cover, square bandana and drawstring pouch.
These three items are all printed with a monogram tapestry design, a dominant motif in Louis Vuitton's Pre-Spring 2021 collection. They each have a Louis Vuitton branded care label sewn onto them. They were stored in a Louis Vuitton branded beige cotton bag with blue drawstrings.
The mask is single-layered, designed to go over a certified face covering. It has elastic ear loops and long straps made of the same material as the mask to fit a variety of sizes.

This set of items was packed in a Louis Vuitton branded 4.5x13.5x24.5 cm cardboard drawer box, tied with blue and gold branded ribbon. The box also contains two branded, textured envelopes holding the business card of the manager of the shop where the mask was purchased and a receipt.

In April 2020 Louis Vuitton pivoted their worldwide production to produce face masks, which they distributed for free to healthcare workers, retirement homes, and organisations most seriously impacted by COVID-19. In November 2020 Louis Vuitton released their own elevated retail face covering which came with a monogram bandana within a drawstring pouch and sold for £350.
