From Inside the Westminster Menswear Archive:
1ST LOOSE JEANS
Levi’s RED
2000
The Levi’s RED collection drew inspiration from the brand’s heritage and transformed it into a product with a streamlined, minimalist aesthetic. The ‘1st Loose’ jeans were constructed in a selvedge denim with a cotton warp and a natural hemp weft. The use of hemp was aimed to produce more sustainable denim; this version, however, is made of all cotton. The greenish-blue hue to the indigo was a deliberate development of the dye process. The exaggerated silhouette is reminiscent of traditional Japanese hakama trousers, with each leg measuring 50 centimetres at the hem. The jeans have no external back pockets, instead there is a pocket outline in orange stitching with the Levi’s iconic ‘Double Arcuate’ design over it on the back right side.
