      Invisible Men exhibition label:

NEON CAMO PUFFA JACKET, TROUSERS AND TRAINERS
      Adidas ObyO X Jeremy Scott
      2013

While seemingly random, most camouflage patterns are copyright protected, and designers need to be careful about how they use them. This outfit uses a camouflage that is reminiscent, but knowingly different, to Andy Warhol’s 1987 camouflage paintings. The jogging bottoms have a strap to join the legs together in a similar manner to the bondage trousers first designed by Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm Mclaren in the 1970s.

      Polyester, cotton, elastane, leather, synthetic
      Archive no. 2016.174, 2016.029 and 2016.321

From Inside the Westminster Menswear Archive:

      NEON CAMOUFLAGE TROUSERS
      Jeremy Scott for adidas’ Originals
      2013
Although camouflage patterns appear random, most are protected by copyright, so designers must use caution when using them. Andy Warhol’s camouflage paintings from 1986 were produced by redrawing and altering a version of the US Army Engineer Research & Development Laboratories (ERDL) camouflage pattern and thereby making it original. When Warhol’s camouflage print was used by Stephen Sprouse for his 1987 collection the garment labels stated that the print was copyright of the Estate of Andy Warhol. Similarly, while these Jeremy Scott camouflage trousers feature a camouflage pattern reminiscent of Sprouse’s collection, it is distinguished by the neon colourway and scale of the pattern.
