              Typescript text signed and dated by David Crosfield, member of the Polytechnic Harriers, 10th November 1975, giving some context to the album images; including details of the various sports grounds featured; 133x204mm. Postcard featuring image of Dorando Pietri, disqualified winner of the Marathon race. [He is being assisted over the line by Jack Andrew, Honorary General Secretary of the Polytechnic Harriers, and organiser of the Marathon - this act led to a protest by the Americans whose athlete, Hayes, finished second, and who was eventually given the winner's title. Public support for Italian runner led to the presentation of a cup to Pietri by Queen Alexandra]; 87x130mm.

The photograph is labelled on reverse 'Gymnastic activities' and 'Ladies Gymnastics ?1908 (See Polytechnic Magazine for August 1908)'. 'Brewer' has also also been written on the back.
